Source of explosive sound remains a mystery

Reports of a large explosion in the Warrensburg area rolled in Thursday evening, but the cause remains unknown following police investigations.
The Johnson County, Missouri, E-911 and Johnson County Emergency Management Agency received multiple reports of an explosion in the Warrensburg area, according to a news release.
Johnson County Central Dispatch sent police to the reported areas to investigate, but the cause of the sound remains unknown, according to the release.
Officials contacted Whiteman Air Force Base, the U.S. National Weather Service, Union Pacific Railroad as well as area pipeline operators. Information from the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration was sought unsuccessfully due to the government shutdown.
The reports were isolated to the Johnson County area, and no reports of injuries or damage have been noted, according to the news release.
