1 of 2 damaged turbines back online at Table Rock dam

(BRANSON, Mo., AP) — Officials at Table Rock Dam say one of two turbines damaged by lightning is working again.

Power plant supervisor Rocky Reed says lightning damaged power distribution lines on two of the four hydropower generating turbines in mid-May. The two turbines can each produce 54 megawatts of electricity.
The turbine began running again Saturday night. Reed says the second turbine could be running within a week.
The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/1GlhY2I) the two turbines were lost at a time when eight spillways at the lake were partially opened because of high water levels.
Some of that extra water was sent through the two undamaged hydropower turbines and the two damaged units weren’t available to generate more power.
