GOP site selection committee in Kansas City

(KANSAS CITY, Mo., AP) — A committee charged with choosing a site for the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential nominating convention will be in Kansas City this week.

The convention site selection committee arrives in Kansas City Wednesday, after spending Monday and Tuesday in Cleveland. The committee will then travel to Dallas and Denver next week.
A decision on which city will host the convention is expected late this summer.
Most of the committee’s work in Kansas City will occur Thursday, when members are scheduled to tour the Sprint Center and other potential convention venues, and then meet with local officials to discuss the city’s bid.
The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/1hyIGOG) workers have cut weeds, repaired signs and picked up trash in the downtown areas, and welcoming billboards are up around the city.
