(ST. LOUIS, AP) — A St. Louis teenager has been charged with abandoning a corpse after police say she gave birth to a baby and left it in a trash bin.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1eRq5Gq) reports paramedics found the baby dead on Thanksgiving morning. Court documents indicate the girl was dead at the time of delivery earlier that morning.
Eighteen-year-old Lucretia Jordan-Smith was charged Tuesday and could face up to four years in prison if convicted. Bond was set at $10,000.
Paramedics found the baby wrapped in two plastic grocery bags and a larger trash bag in the bin behind Jordan-Smith’s apartment. Police say Jordan-Smith admitted that she wrapped the baby in the bags and put her in the trash bin.
No attorney was listed for Jordan-Smith in online court records.
