SUV crashes into suburban KC coffee shop

(GLADSTONE, Mo., AP) — A sport utility vehicle crashed into a suburban Kansas City coffee shop, sending five people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
KSHB-TV (http://bit.ly/1eB9fwy) reports that the SUV’s driver told Gladstone police she thought her car was in reverse rather than drive Friday morning when she slammed into the Starbucks. Besides the five taken to the hospital, three others were treated at the scene.
Police said the driver wasn’t under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A crash report should be released this coming week.
Sgt. Kim Buck of the Gladstone Police Department says this type of accident is more common than people think and that vehicles crash into buildings several times a year.
