UCM approves transfer of The Bridge to KCPT

(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) – The University of Central Missouri Board of Governors has approved the transfer of ownership of KTBG-FM 90.9 – The Bridge to Kansas City Public Television.
The transfer must be reviewed and approved by the Federal Communications Commission before finalization. The terms of the sale were not immediately available.
KTBG is a 100,000-watt station based at UCM. The Board of Governors’ decision was based on a plan that began last year to cut costs at the university, according to a news release.
When KCPT expressed an interest in acquiring the KTBG-FM license, KCPT’s board of directors and staff wanted to establish a long-term collaborative relationship with UCM, according to the news release.
Some new opportunities could include a broad range of ongoing internships, UCM programs being aired on KCPT’s television platforms, and promotion of UCM in the Kansas City area, according to the news release.
KCPT plans to continue airing the current Triple A music format on The Bridge.
The sale of KTBG will not affect UCM’s public television station, KMOS-TV, which operate largely independent of the University’s radio station, according to the news release.
