Mules Track improves to No. 22 in USTFCCCA Rankings

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – After posting high marks at three different meets last week, the Central Missouri Mules track & field squad moved up two spots in the latest USTFCCCA Division II National Championship Rankings, to No. 22. The Jennies held their rank of No. 11 from a week ago.
The Mules gained 2.04 points in this week’s rankings, helped in particular by Dalton Moberly’s performance in the 5,000-meters at Washington University, and the performance of the multi-event athletes at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational. The Mules total of 51.67 points is still largely compiled from last season’s outdoor track performance.
The Jennies have a total of 93.46 points in the poll this week, up 1.98 points from the last poll. Madison Smith’s 4,668 point total in the heptathlon at Texas State, and Brooke Swearingin’s provisional mark in the hammer throw, where she threw for a career-best 171′ 6″ (52.27m), helped improve the team’s score.
In the men’s poll, St. Augustine’s (N.C.) takes over the No. 1 spot, surpassing Grand Canyon (Ariz.). MIAA foe Lincoln holds the top rank in the women’s poll.
The Mules currently sit seventh in the Central Regional rankings, which are dominated by MIAA squads; nine conference teams take the top nine spots in the ten-team poll. On the women’s side, the Jennies sit eighth, and are the eighth-highest conference team in the Central Region.
Central Missouri hits the road this week, as they travel to Emporia State for the Emporia State Relays. The one-day meet takes place Saturday, April 6, beginning at 11 a.m.
