Garold L. “Gary” Pfost, 69, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Thursday, Jan. 3, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. There will be a private interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg at a later date.
Gary was born April 1, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Garold A. “Chub” Pfost and Helen L. (Huggins) Pfost. He was raised in Westwood, Kansas, and graduated from Kansas State School for the Deaf in Olathe, Kansas. He grew up farming and running cattle with his dad and brother. In the early 1970s, he moved to Warrensburg to open a NAPA Store with his family. Next, Gary purchased a Kawasaki Dealership in Sedalia with his brother, Don. For years, he owned and operated Gary’s Disposal. Upon retiring and selling the business, he worked at EnerSys until retiring. He enjoyed archery in years past. Gary also loved fishing and spending time with his family, which included many hours watching his granddaughter, Ashton, play softball.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Pfost and companion, Matt Charlton, of Warrensburg; and Joy Dangerfield, of Texas; sister, Barbara Bryan, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tyler Charlton, of Higginsville, Missouri; Taylor Callahan, of Lacygne, Kansas; Kayla Callahan, of Olatha; Jesika Callahan, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ashton Pfost, of Warrensburg; Skylar Beck, of Independence, Missouri; and Kolby Charlton, of Frankford, Missouri; and four great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Zoe, Leon and Nevaeh. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don “Road Dog” Pfost, and brother-in-law, Jerry Bryan.
