Robert J. “Bob” Kavanaugh, 76, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died Monday, Oct. 29, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.
Bob was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Warrensburg, the son of Harland D. and Dorothy L. (Sutton) Kavanaugh. He graduated from Warrensburg High School. He served in the Missouri National Guard. Bob was united in marriage to Nancy L. Stoneking on July 2, 1965, in Warrensburg. The couple resided in Greenwood, Pleasant Hill and a farm near Leeton prior to returning to Warrensburg. Bob was a Shriner. He also enjoyed camping and watching old war movies.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughter, Angela (Ernie) King, of Warrensburg; son, Matt Kavanaugh, of Lee’s Summit; three grandchildren, Brandon (Melissa) Sapp, of Warrensburg; Samantha Sapp, of Warrensburg, and Emma Kavanaugh, of Lee’s Summit; great-grandson, Fletcher Ryan Sapp; sister, Sharon Smith, of Blue Springs, Missouri; and brother, Charles (Sharon) Kavanaugh, of Warrensburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Cajun Smith.
Graveside services were Friday, Nov. 2, at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Randall Neal of Grover Park Baptist Church officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Warrensburg Senior Center.
Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
