Mules roll to pair of dual wins Thursday night

(LEXINGTON, Mo.) – The UCM Mules wrestling team (3-0) rolled to a pair of dual wins Thursday night from the Wikoff Center on the Wentworth Military Academy campus, shutting out the Arkansas Baptist Buffalos 53-0 before defeating the host Red Dragons 48-6 to improve to 3-0 in dual competition.
The Mules got wins via fall from Ty Loethen at 165 pounds (2:22), Todd Brier at 184 (2:08) and Tim Tuaquoi at 285 (5:59) while Michael Boyd won his match at 157 by technical fall (15-3 at 4:48). The Mules also received wins via forfeit at 125, 133, 141, 149 and 174 pounds.
In the Mules’ second match of the evening against Wentworth Military Academy, UCM picked up wins by fall from Hunter Neighbors at 125 pounds (2:14), Nick Viterisi at 149 (0:50), Boyd at 157 (1:48), Loethen at 165 (0:22), Joshua Ploof at 174 (1:08) and Brier at 184 (1:19).
UCM received wins via forfeit in the 125, 141 and 285 weight classes while Wentworth received a victory courtesy of a Central Missouri forfeit at 197 pounds to give the Mules the 48-6 win.
The Mules didn’t allow a point in a dual for the first time since 2005 in the 53-0 win over Arkansas Baptist.
Mules wrestling returns to the mats Sunday when they travel to Wichita, Kan., to take part in the Newman Jet Invitational.
