Fern L. Carnes, 90, of Warrensburg, formerly of Knob Noster, died Monday, Nov. 7, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Knob Noster United Methodist Church with Reverend Bryan Wendling officiating. Interment will follow in Knob Noster Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Knob Noster United Methodist Church and can be left in care of the funeral home.
She was born August 9, 1926 in South Dakota, the daughter of Virgil and Ora (Holder) Salmon.
On October 13, 1946, she and William G. Carnes were united in marriage in Yuma, AZ. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2006.
Fern and her husband, Bill, were owners and operators of Green Acres Mobile Home Park in Knob Noster. She was a member of the Knob Noster United Methodist Church. You could always find Fern at McDonald’s in the morning drinking coffee with her friends or at Panther Steak House for lunch visiting with friends. Fern and Bill loved to travel in their bus all over the country.
Fern is survived by one son, Ron Carnes and wife, Janis, of Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren, Tyann Carnes, of Knob Noster, Ronald Carnes and wife, Judith, of Tyler, Texas, and William Carnes and wife, Kelly, of Olathe; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Max Carnes; and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Carnes, of Knob Noster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a son, Rick Carnes on Sept. 10, 2014; a brother, Earl Salmon; and two sisters, Ardath Clements and Esther Butcher.
