Ronald E. Atkins, 83, of Raymore, Missouri, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, died Tuesday, July 19, at Kansas City Hospice House.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at First Presbyterian Church, located at 138 N. Main in Liberty.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Ronald was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Blairstown, Missouri, to Samuel E. Atkins and Maude (Phillips) Atkins.
Ronald graduated from Blairstown High School in 1951 and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. Ron’s teaching career began in 1955 and he retired from Oak Park High School after 31 years of teaching. He also taught in Alma, Warsaw, Newburg and Liberty. He married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Poindexter, in 1952.
He loved music, traveling and square dancing, but most of all, he loved being with family and friends. He was a 55 year member of First Presbyterian Church in Liberty, where he was a deacon and an elder. Ron was also a member of the Missouri State Teacher’s Association and National Education Association.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; two daughters, Kathy (Tom) Mozley and Roni (David) Williams; grandson Garrett (Erin) Mozley; granddaughter Audrie (Weston) Burk; and great granddaughter Elizabeth Mozley. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Julie Atkins; grandson Samuel Williams and granddaughter Rachel Mozley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Liberty, Raymore Presbyterian Church or Kansas City Hospice.
Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
