John Alten Roberson

John Alten Roberson, of Holden, Missouri, died Sunday, Jan. 25, at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Visitation will be Friday Jan. 30, 1 to 3 pm at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home in Holden, Missouri.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home.
Interment will be Monday, Feb. 2 at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, Missouri.
He was born March 20, 1938 in Beach Grove, Arkansas the son of Jess Roberson and Aris (Copeland) Roberson. He attended school in Lanton, Missouri near West Plains. He lived in the Holden area since 1972. John was an autoworker at the General Motors Leeds plant in Kansas City, Missouri until it closed. He then transferred to the GM factory in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he retired August 1993. John was a member of the Holden First Baptist Church, Holden American Legion Post 90, a Thirty two year member of the Johnson County Coon Hunters Club, and a longtime member of the Missouri Coon Hunters Federation. John in the United States Army and served with the 3rd Battalion Artillery unit in Germany from 1961 to 1963.
Surviving his passing are his wife Ruby Roberson, Holden, Missouri; two sons, Steven and wife Melissa, Holden, Missouri; Kevin and wife Brandy, Holden, Missouri; three Step daughters, Missy Bright and husband Larry, Grandview, Missouri; Jeannie Beaton and husband James, North Carolina; Denise Paul and husband Jeremy, Texas; two brothers Carl Roberson and wife Wanda, West Plains, Missouri; Jerry Roberson and wife Wanda, Texas; two sisters, Faye Spoor, Texas; Meril Driver, Peoria, Illinois; and eight grandchildren, Seth Roberson, Chelsea Roberson, Abbigail Roberson, Shawnda Roberson, Jeffery Carraway, Colt Cumpton, Hunter Paul, and Tanner Paul. John was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ruiz (DeBoever) Roberson of 47 years, and eight siblings.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Johnson County Coon Hunters Association for Needy Children.
