Tigers unravel in final frame to Smith-Cotton

By JAMIE EMBREY
The Warrensburg Tigers baseball team traveled to Sedalia Tuesday night where they lost 11-8.
Although they climbed to an 8-6 lead, the Tigers fell apart in the final inning, allowing Smith-Cotton to score five runs.
“We walked too many batters,” said Brad Long. “They scored five runs on no hits.”
The Warrensburg Tigers fought until the end with three pitching changes in the last inning, hoping to keep Smith-Cotton at bay. However, their efforts were in vain.
“We hit the ball well throughout the game,” said Matthew Zembraski. “We just couldn’t find the strike zone in the last inning.”
Warrensburg has had a rough start to their season with a current record of 1-7.
“Our record doesn’t show how well we have played,” Zembraski said. “We have had a lot of close games.”
Jamie Embrey is a Warrensburg High School student.
