Jennies volleyball beats Missouri S&T in straight sets

(ROLLA, Mo.) — The Central Missouri Jennies defeated Missouri S&T in straight sets, 25-17 25-22 25-20, Tuesday evening, according to a press release. The Jennies are now 15-0, 4-0 in the MIAA, while Missouri S&T falls to 6-7, 2-2 in the GLVC.

In set one the Jennies won the first point of the match with a kill by Taylor Goodness, and went on to win four consecutive points to put them ahead at 5-1. The Jennies won another four points in a row at 3-6 to bring the score to 3-10, with two kills by Carly Sojka, and one each from Becca Blaise and Haley Thompson. The Lady Miners came within four points of catching the Jennies at 15-19 before the Jennies drilled in five points, including a serving ace from Sojka. The Jennies final two points of the set came from kills by Goodness, who finished the first set with six kills. Sojka finished the set right behind Goodness with five kills.
In the second set the Lady Miners won five straight points before the Jennies could score a point. The Jennies played catch up for a majority of the set, tying the score seven times before finally taking the lead at 22-21. The Jens won their final two points of the set back-to-back, to end the set at 25-22. Sojka finished the second set with seven kills.
Missouri S&T started the third set ahead, the Jennies tying the score at 7-7 and going on to win five more points, with two serving aces from Sojka. The Jennies led the Miners for the rest of the set winning the last three points of the match in a row, two of which were kills from Goodness. Goodness had six total kills in the third set.
Goodness and Sojka both finished the match with 15 kills each. Maddie Jones and Thompson both had seven kills in the match. Sojka also had three serving aces. Annie Reilly tallied two serving aces and 17 digs. Julia Bates finished the match with 38 assists.
The Jennies will have two days off before taking on Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State at home this weekend.
