Moran's hat trick leads Jennies to 5-1 win

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — The No. 17 ranked Jennies soccer team (4-1-1) defeated visiting Nebraska-Kearney, 5-1 at Jennies Field on Saturday, according to a press release.Freshman Hannah Moran scored three goals, one coming via penalty kick, to help extend the Jennies’ win streak to four games.
Carly Stanley‘s header off a corner kick from Nicole Pond in the 16th minute put Central Missouri ahead, 1-0. Moran’s penalty kick in the 37th minute provided the Jennies with their second score of the evening.
Nebraska-Kearney cut the lead in half at 2-1 in the 73rd minute when Montanna Hosterman’s free kick from 25 yards out from the left side found the back of the net.
Moran collected her second and third goals of the game (both unassisted) in the 82nd minute on a breakaway shot at the top of the box and in the 83rd minute on a look from the top of the box.
Central Missouri put the game to rest in the 84th minute when Cindy Lackey found Julie Ireland for the Jennies’ fifth score of game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Hartzler improved to 4-1-1 on the season, playing 45 minutes before Jessica Grindstaff took over for the entire second half.
The Jennies will travel to Topeka to battle Washburn on September 27 at 6 p.m.
