(BOLIVAR, Mo.) — Running a team of mostly underclassmen the Mules cross country team captured the team title at the season-opening Southwest Baptist Twilight on Friday night, according to a press release. UCM edged out the host school, Southwest Baptist, by one point.
Junior Adam Tredway was the top placing Mule in second place in a 5K time of 15:51.87. Cameron Bogue was sixth in 16:22.14 followed closely by Spencer Hudson (16:22.72) in seventh and Austin Gott (16:22.97) in eighth. Freshman J.P. Espinoza was 11th in 16:41.81.
Michael Frazier was 17th followed by Steve Heim in 24th, Shawn Conrad in 32nd, Brandon Schneider in 34th and Eric Rogers in 35th.
On the women’s side, Central Missouri did not enter a full team so they did not place in the team standings. Haley Russell finished in 19th place in a time of 21:53.06. Tia Smith was 24th in 22:22.34 and Christine Wigginton was 25th in 22:25.47.
The Mules and Jennies are back in action next Saturday, Sept. 14, hosting the Central Missouri Mule Run at 9 a.m. at Keth Memorial Golf Course in Pertle Springs.
