As of Sept. 17, the University of Central Missouri had 17 active student cases and one active faculty/staff case. Case numbers have reached highs of 30 student cases and six faculty/staff cases this semester. University of Central Missouri President Roger Best and the Board of Governors cut the ceremonial ribbon to introduce the new classroom officially. Being able to come into a place and be able to renovate and provide the space for them to be successful helps us as leaders to see them in action, Best said. We want to make sure they are prepared to the best of their ability.

While 43 faculty positions were identified for retrenchment, 20 positions were vacant because of prior resignations and retirements. Only eight positions identified belong to tenured faculty, who have the option of appealing the decision. The other 15 positions are filled by instructors or tenured-track faculty.

During the first week of classes, the university hosted the Involvement Fair, Career Fair and other student activities. Students are recommended to wear masks outside and masks are require in university buildings. We dont know for sure whats going to happen, and we dont want to be caught not being prepared, so were trying to prepare for the worst because theres always that potential, Interim Health Center Director Diana Herman said.
