Marilyn E. Mickey–Clay, 81, of Holden, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 26 at her home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at the First Christian Church in Holden. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. A private burial will be in the Holden Cemetery under the direction of Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home, of Holden.
She was born Oct. 18, 1931 in Sweet Springs, Mo, the daughter of W.O. “Bud” and Mildred Eleanor (Vogelsmeir) Dillon. Marilyn graduated from Holden High School in 1949 and married Robert Edwin Mickey Sr. on Sept. 12, 1950, in Holden. Mr. Mickey preceded her in death on April 11, 1985. She was wed to John “Jack” Clay on Nov. 7, 1987, in Prairie Village, Kan. Mr. Clay died May 2, 2012.
Marilyn moved with her family from Sweet Springs to Holden in 1945. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Holden and served as church organist for 63 years. She was a homemaker and served as chairman of the board of directors of F & C Bank from 1985 until 2011. Since 2012, she has been chairman emeritus of the board. She was also past president of the Holden Christian Womens’ Fellowship, a district board member of the Disciples of Christ, past member of the Disciples of Christ Foundation, past president of the Holden Library Board, past president of GS Chapter of PEO, and past president of Holden Shakespeare Club.
Surviving her passing are one son, Robert E. Mickey Jr. (Linda), of Holden; two daughters, Ann Burns (John), of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Laurel Reed (Joel), of Austin, Texas; step-children, David Clay (Shawna), of Olathe, Kan., Scott Clay (Wendy), of DeSoto, Kan., and Cathy Clay-Martin, Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Rob, Kristen, and Max Mickey, John Dallas (Pauline), Joel Reed IV, Ryan Reed (Diana), and Catherine Reed-Jones (Doug); and one great-grandson, Will Dallas; six step-grandchildren, Taylor Clay, Susan Thompson, Andrew Clay (Sandra), Emily Nooteboom (Jarod), Madison Clay, Morgan Clay; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Carson and Calvin Thompson, Whitney and Sam Clay, Hannah, Avery, and Clay Nooteboom.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Edward Dillon, on May 23, 2000, and by a grandson, Joseph Michael Dallas, on April 22, 1996.
