Martha Brown

Martha Brown, 86, of Warrensburg, formerly of Lee’s Summit, died Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Warrensburg Manor Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Brother Charles Brant officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born March 24, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Robert and Grace Irene (Stroup) Wilson.
She was united in marriage on June 5, 1948, to David K. Brown Jr. in Paducah, Ky. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Martha graduated from Penn Valley Magna Cum Laude. She processed and maintained medical records for KU Medical Center for several years until her retirement.
She is survived by four daughters, Cathy Furrey and husband, Jon, of Chilhowee; Marie Harris, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; Marilyn Newport and husband, Shawn, of Kansas City; and Anita LaPietra and husband, Raymond, of Chilhowee; two brothers, John C. Wilson and Joe G. Wilson, both of St. Louis; one sister, Grace Vance, of St. Charles, Mo.; sister in-law, Georgia Wilson; special friend, Richard King; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra Irene Brown; and one son, David K. Brown III.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Warrensburg Animal Shelter and can be left in care of the funeral home.
