Ruth E. Grandestaff, 96, of Warrensburg, formerly of Knob Noster, died Monday, Oct. 8 at Essex Assisted Care in Sedalia, Mo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Brother Charles Brant officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons Bennie, Ray and Troy Bird and Brian, Dan and Bill Grandestaff.
Interment will follow at Knob Noster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
She was born May 27, 1916, in Dresden, Mo., the daughter of William Jesse and Myrtle Ellen (Noel) Fuller.
She was united in marriage to John W. Grandestaff Nov. 29, 1934 in Higginsville, Mo. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1994.
Ruth owned and operated the Knobby Nook Restaurant in Knob Noster for several years. She then worked as a meat wrapper at Franklin’s Grocery Store in Warrensburg. Ruth later worked as a cook at Knob Noster Middle School and finally worked at the snack bar at Central Missouri State University before retiring.
Ruth is survived by one son, Charles Grandestaff and wife Sandra of Knob Noster; one daughter, Flo Ellen Bird of Caldwell, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and thre great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Pearl Grandestaff on March 16, 1965; three brothers, Ruben, Lawrence and George Fuller; five sisters, Mary Yancey, Lucy Zink, Ada Bell Vest, Anne Mae Funk and Virginia Kuhlman.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the La Monte Christian Youth Home and can be left in care of the funeral home.
