Phil Yancey

Phil Yancey, 61, of Centerview, Missouri, died Saturday, June 20, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with the Rev. Hubert Neth officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tom Stokes, Bob Frost, Randy Leach, Bob Bird, Dean Garske, Tommy Neal and Dave Redlin.
He was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Rantoul, Illinois, the son of Sam and Martha Hook Yancey. He and Helen N. Smith were married on Dec. 6, 1974, in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Phil was a 1971 graduate of Warrensburg College High. He worked at Home Lumber for 15 years and then American Home Patient in Warrensburg. He was the membership manager for Home Builders Association of Kansas City. He was a former member of the Warrensburg Elks Lodge and helped coach the American Legion baseball and other youth sports in the Centerview and Warrensburg areas. He was formerly a Crest Ridge School Board member. He enjoyed going to his kids’ and grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; two daughters, Stacy Heckadon and husband, Heath, of Rich Hill, Missouri; Crissy Kauffman, of Holden, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kyleigh Kauffman, Karsen Kauffman, Riley Heckadon, Tucker Kauffman and Baylee Heckadon; his parents, Sam and Martha Yancey, of Warrensburg; two sisters, Debbie Cook of Lee’s Summit; and Kathy Cox, of Warrensburg; two brothers, Roger Yancey, of Blue Springs; and Jesse Yancey and wife, Sheria, of St. Clair, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
