Ruth Edna Bond

Ruth Edna Bond, 105, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Country Club Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the First Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg, Mo. Interment will follow at Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
She was born July 30, 1909, in Otterville, Mo., the daughter of Samuel and Bettie (Wear) Henderson.
On May 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to Warren Purcell Bond.
Ruth received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1941 from Central Missouri State Teachers College and later received her master’s degree from Central Missouri State College. She taught for 34 years in the Missouri public school system until her retirement in 1975. In her 60s and 70s she enjoyed traveling abroad and took numerous tours to many different countries, including riding a camel when she was in Egypt. Ruth was active in many local organizations including PEO, ABC Club and the Retired Teachers Association. She was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg and was an avid bridge player.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Mento and husband Joe, and one grandson, Brian John Mento, all of Warrensburg.
She was also preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, George, Paul and Robert Henderson; and two sisters, Hattie Belle Henderson and Ella Mae Trout.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church Outreach Missions and can be left in care of the funeral home.
