Lela Mae Steele Dudley, 93, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, with Brother Charles Brant officiating. Pallbearers will be Lela Mae’s grandsons.
Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 11, 1921, in Deepwater, Mo., the daughter of Tom and Pearl Steele. She was a lifelong resident of Warrensburg.
Lela Mae was a very caring Christian woman, who loved the Lord and lived a godly life, sharing her love with everyone she met. She was a nurse for over 40 years in Warrensburg, Holden, Mo., and Whiteman Air Force Base. Lela Mae was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church. She always had many stories to share with all of her children.
Survivors include sons Jim and his wife, Lavina Dudley; Bruce and his wife, Judy Thomson; and daughters Nancy and husband, Dude Severns; Kitty and husband, Jim Brant; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild, one sister, one brother and many nieces and nephews.
Lela Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; two sons, Blackie and Ken; four sisters and one brother.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice or Harmony Baptist Church, and both can be left in care of the funeral home.
