James Scott Grigsby

James Scott Grigsby, 62, of New Orleans, Louisiana, formerly of Warrensburg, died Thursday, June 5, at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg with the Rev. Louie Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
James was born July 20, 1951, in Warrensburg, the son of Robert W. and Doris L. (Warren) Grigsby. He graduated from College High School in Warrensburg and later graduated from University of Central Missouri in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. In 1975, he moved to New Orleans where he became an auditor for a local CPA firm. Later, James became employed with University of New Orleans where he worked in computer programming. He retired from UNO in 2010 after 30 years of service.
He married Barnie Williams on May 29, 2014, in Boston, Massachusetts. James was a master councelor of the the De Molay and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg, as well as a member of National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was an avid stained glass artist and also collected Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Survivors include his spouse, Barnie Williams of New Orleans; mother, Doris Grigsby of Warrensburg; uncle, Dale Warren of Wyckoff, New Jersey; and also several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Grigsby, paternal grandparents Sam and Alma Grigsby of Warrensburg and maternal grandparents Garford and Lillie Warren of Holden.
