Roger David Lackens

Roger David Lackens, 66 of Knob Noster, Mo., died Friday, May 9, at Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg. 
Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, with Chaplain Erich Kurz of Crossroads Hospice officiating. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Roger was born Sept. 8, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Edwin B. and Jane (Bartlett) Lackens. He graduated high school at Fork Union Military Academia in Fork Union, Va. He would eventually receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., later on in life. Roger was united in marriage to Kathy Jo Kicos on July 12, 1967, in Monroe, Mich. He spent the majority of his adult life in the United States Air Force. His military career took him and his family all over the United States and several foreign countries. As for a few of the highlights of his military service, Roger worked on the E-4, the presidential jet used during the Ford Administration. He also scheduled AWAX flights for several years. More recently, he was involved in program security in Las Vegas, Nev. Upon his retirement in 1991, the couple moved to Knob Noster to be closer to family. 

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Renee’ Genette’ Henderson and husband, Stephen, of Knob Noster; and Melissa Sue Kenny and husband, Bryan, of Las Vegas; his mother, Jane Lackens of Rio Rancho, N.M.; sister, Vicki Gallegos and husband, Jim, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and five grandchildren, Jay Henderson, Kevin Henderson, Chris Henderson, Mikey Kenny and Gabby Kenny. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin. 

Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
