Hillard William Wissman

Hillard William Wissman, 90, of Warrensburg, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 20, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
Hillard was born March 21, 1923, in Cole Camp, Mo., the son of Joseph J. and Marie (Hayworth) Wissman. He graduated from Centerview High School. He entered the United States Army on March 19, 1946. He served with the 743rd Anti Aircraft Gun Battalion in Manila Island, Philippines. Hillard was discharged April 12, 1947, at Camp Beale, California. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Gregg on Aug. 28, 1949. He worked for Roseland Meats, Lake City Arsenal and later, Unitog. He also did some farming. Hillard was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Golden Agers.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Bill Wissman and wife, Wanda, of Warrensburg; and Robert Wissman of Garden City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Heather Wissman Clark and husband, Rick, of Bossier City, La.; Nicole Heaton and husband, Lane; and Erik Wissman, all of Warrensburg; a great-grandchild, Ayden Clark, and another on the way. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wissman, of Warrensburg and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Marie Musick and Margaret Alderson and his brother, Harold Wissman.
