Dincell C. “Denny” Cockrum, 80, of Warrensburg; formerly of Knob Noster, died March 16, at his home.
Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m., March 20 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, with interment that followed at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Denny was born December 16, 1938 in Warsaw, Missouri; son of William Alfred and Bessie Faye (Crowder) Cockrum. His family moved to Knob Noster when Denny was six years old. He graduated from Knob Noster High School. He was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Viles on December 24, 1957 in Knob Noster. The couple resided in Knob Noster until moving to their acreage, South of Warrensburg, in 2012. Through the years, Denny was a manager at the Gulf, later known as Fina, Service Station; manager at Green Light Auto Parts at one time. Next, he was employed with the City of Knob Noster. More recently he was a truck driver with LaFarge Concrete. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar and listening to old classic music.
Survivors include his wife: Marilyn; son: William (Julie) Cockrum of Glenwood, Iowa; daughter: Rebecca (Paul) Landkamer of Warrensburg; son-in-law: Glenn Smith of Picayune, Mississippi; brother: Vernon “Ray” (Juanita) Cockrum of Centerview, Missouri; sister-in-law: Merrilyn Cockrum of Knob Noster; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Elizabeth Smith and three brothers: Larry, Junior and Glen Cockrum.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to West Central Christian Service Camp or Show-Me Christian Youth Home at La Monte.
