Elizabeth Anderson, 82, of Warrensburg, died Monday, July 16, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. A private interment will follow Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born to William H. and Della M. (Tharrington) Lockard March 9, 1936, in Knob Noster, Missouri. She was the fifth of eight children. She attended country schools just outside of Knob Noster and Warrensburg. On July 5, 1952, she married Airman Eugene Anderson and for the next 23 years while he served in the United States Air Force, they traveled the world.
After his retirement, they came back to Knob Noster and finally, Warrensburg. Elizabeth could sometimes be found at the penny slots at the casino with a big grin on her face, having the time of her life. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 66 years, Eugene, of the home; daughter, Carmon Anderson, of Warrensburg; son, Eugene Anderson, Jr., of Ripley, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dylan, of Ripley; and three great-grandchildren, Alijah, Alivia and Chloe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Della; sisters, Betty, Dorothy and Sandy; and brothers, William, James, Hartley and Johnnie.
