James D. Quinn, age 80, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Sunday, March 11, at his home.Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 16, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Kenneth and Annabelle (Vaughn) Quinn.
Jim was a Vietnam veteran serving honorably in the United State Air Force for 30 years and retiring as a Chief Master Sargent from Whiteman Air Force Base. He continued to serve by managing the AmVets Post 143 which supports many programs for Knob Noster and surrounding communities.
He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and following his Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals.
Jim is survived by his fiancée, Kitty Wiggins, of Knob Noster; three sons, Michael (Jamie) Quinn of Riva, Maryland, and Dave Quinn and Rick Quinn, both of Jefferson City, Missouri; and three stepchildren, Rick Wiggins (Tina Savage) of Knob Noster, Brenda (John) Carr of Oak Grove, and David Wiggins of Santa Rosa, Florida. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth “Wayne” Quinn. Memorial contribtions are suggested to AmVets Post 143 and can be left in care of the funeral home.
