Wesley A. “Jack” Pollard, 86, of La Monte, Missouri, died Thursday, Feb. 15, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Funeral Service was 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, Missouri, with Dudley Morton of Church of Christ in Harrisonville officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery near Stet, Missouri.
The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jack was born Aug. 10, 1931 in Bogard, Missouri, son of John Albert Pollard and Sophronia Jane (Horn) Pollard. He graduated from Tina High School and subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he began a 20 year career.
Jack was united in marriage to Florence Marie Waters on Sept. 28, 1950 at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. His military career took him all over the world including Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, Algeria and Johnson Island.
In 1970, Jack retired from active duty and the couple moved to La Monte. He went to work for Western Electric in Lee’s Summit in Quality Assurance, and left to follow his lifelong ambition, farming, raising Registered Quarter Horses, Beefalo Cattle and grandsons at La Monte.
Survivors include two daughters: Kathy Lynn Chaney and husband, Dale of Warrensburg, and Jackie Marie Haynes of Laclede, Missouri; brother: Norman Pollard and wife, Christina of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren: Lynn Dale Chaney and wife, Sarah of Lexington, Missouri; John Wesley Haynes of Laclede, and Caleb Wesley Holland and wife, Tabbatha of La Monte; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; daughter: Lillie Holland and husband, Robert; 11 brothers and sisters and two grandsons: William Earl Chaney and Jason Dean Peel.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to Show-Me Christian Youth Home at La Monte or New Hope Cemetery association.
