Fred Elkins, 98, died Jan. 16 at North Kansas City Hospital inKansas City, Missouri.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 11 a.m. at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 12 p.m. at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Fred Elkins to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Fred was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Stella, Missouri, to Sam Elkins and Gertrude Bell (Culp) Elkins. Fred graduated from Stella High School and married Luella. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Fred served in the United States Army and served World War II. After coming home, Fred worked as a welder most of his life. After Fred retired, he loved to boat and fish.
Fred is survived by one son, Bill Elkins, of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers.
Interment will follow at Kingsville Cemetery with Military Honors.
