Marvin A. “Brownie” Brown, 83, of Holden, Missouri died Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare in Clinton, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Rev. Timothy Whitmore of First Christian Church in Holden officiating. Interment will follow at the Holden Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post 5844 and Munday-Hancock Post 90, American Legion.
Brownie was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Higginsville, Missouri, the son of Robert Lester Brown and Dorothea Mae (Barker) Brown. He graduated from Holden High School, Class of 1952. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Kerasage. Brownie was married to Erma Faye Perdue on Jan. 18, 1957, in Strasburg, Missouri. The couple resided in Holden, where Brownie was a machinist for over 30 years. He married Wanda Lee Fitzgerel on Oct. 2, 1985, in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple owned and operated Holden A. F. Super. More recently, they owned and operated Market Street Deli in Holden, Missouri. Brownie loved tinkering, especially fixing things. He loved going to country music shows. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Baptist Temple in Holden.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; five children: Michael A. Brown and wife, Janis of Warsaw, Missouri; Donald R. Brown and wife, Elizabeth of Holden; David W. Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, North; Joyce F. Anderson and husband, Michael of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Nancy M. Brown of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sister: Betty Snow and husband, Bob of Holden; twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Loverna and two brothers: Ezra “Buck” and Eugene “Gene.”
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions are suggested to First Christian Church in Holden.
