Arthur “Barney” Barnett, 96 of Kingsville, Missouri, died Friday, Oct. 20, at the Warrensburg Veterans Home.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 at Kingsville Baptist Church, with Pastor John McRoy officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post 5844 and Munday-Hancock Post 90, American Legion.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time, Tuesday at the church. There will be a private interment at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
Arthur was born Feb. 7, 1921, near Odessa, Missouri, the son of William Cobb Barnett and Bessie Lee (Andrews) Barnett. In 1944, he volunteered for service in World War II with the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946. He married Shirley Baker on Oct. 11, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1951, the couple moved to the farm north of Kingsville. Barney had dairy cattle for a brief time, and later, purebred Yorkshire Hogs. He was a longtime member of Kingsville Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon since 1954.
He is survived by three children: Allen Barnett and wife, Wanda of Kearney; Ed Barnett and wife, Stacy of Kingsville and Linda Duncan and husband, P. D. of Kingsville; four grandchildren: Lora Lowe and husband, Bill; Dwayne Barnett and wife, Patty; Michael Barnett, and Sarah Duncan; great grandchildren: Shane Lowe, Noah Lowe and Brayden Barnett; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; four sisters and five brothers.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to Kingsville Baptist Church Youth Fund or Veterans Assistance League at the Warrensburg Veterans Home.
Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden.
