John Bryan Dean, 72, died Sept. 1 surrounded by his family at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 7, at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service.
John Bryan was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Joseph Bryan and Caroline May (McConnell) Dean.
Shortly after his birth the family moved to Springfield, Missouri. Bryan attended school in Springfield until his family moved to Holden, Missouri, where his dad was pastor at the Holden Baptist Temple.
Bryan graduated from Holden High School in 1962. He then married Sherry Darlene Henderson on May 28, 1965, and they remained lifelong residents of Holden.
He is survived by his wife Darlene of the home. His son, Stephen Dean and fiancee, Kara of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his daughter, Sherry Wehmeyer of Lone Jack, Missouri; and four grandchildren, Aaron Dean and Asher Dean of Sioux Falls; Allison Dean of Warrensburg, Missouri; and Bryanna Wehmeyer of Lone Jack. His two brothers, Paul Dean of Gladewater, Texas, and David Dean and wife Bonny of Justice, Illinois. One sister, Mable Durbin of Gladewater. He leaves several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Caroline Dean, his Father and Mother-in-law Benton and Helen Henderson, his daughter-in-law Jennifer Dean, brother-in-law David Durbin, and nephew Jeffrey Martin.
A private graveside will be held at a later date.
