Olivia Brant, 95, of Warrensburg, Missouri, died at the Country Club Care Center Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Olivia was born in Chilhowee on June 17, 1921, to Garra and Fannie Mae (Smith) Coulson. She was raised in Chilhowee and graduated from Chilhowee High School in 1939. She was married to Cecil Brant on Feb. 1, 1941. They lived in Warrensburg all their married life. Since 1944, they lived at 401 W. Culton St. Cecil preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 2001, after 60 years of marriage.
Olivia was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Warrensburg and active in WMU and Golden Age. She taught the 4-year-old Sunday school class for 38 years. She was the Baptist associational missions secretary for 11 years, a part-time worker at Montgomery Ward in the 1960s, and was church secretary at First Baptist of Warrensburg from October 1968, to May 1977. She was involved with the international student ministry at First Baptist for over 30 years and did volunteer work at the Community Clothes Closet.
Olivia enjoyed traveling. She and Cecil went on trips with the Golden Age over most of the states. Each fall they went to New Hampshire to visit their daughter and family. Later Olivia traveled to Australia twice with her daughters to visit her granddaughter and family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.
Others preceding Olivia in death were two brothers, Donald Lee Coulson and G. W. Coulson; and a sister, Thelma Flynn.
Olivia is survived by her two sons, Gary Brant, of Warrensburg; and Jim Brant and his wife, Kitty, of Warrensburg; two daughters, Vicki Stark, of Stover; and Shirley French and her husband, Jqhn, of Peterborough, New Hampshire; one sister, Judy Divine, of Springfield; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made (for missions) to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at First Baptist Church of Warrensburg and can be left in care of the funeral home.
