Donald Lee Williams, 84, of Warsaw, Missouri, formerly of Holden, Missouri, died Saturday, April 30, at his home.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa with the Rev. Larry Neil officiating. Interment will follow in Blackwater Cemetery east of Pittsville.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Don was born June 30, 1931, in Mound City, Missouri, the son of Charles Donald Williams and Artie Grace (Miller) Williams. He graduated from high school in Rosendale in 1949. He drove a dump truck for his dad for a time. Next, Don went to work at General Motors for several years. He eventually became an over-the-road trucker. He drove for Rock Island, Murphy Motor Freight, C. C. C. Trucking and Missouri Nebraska Express prior to purchasing his own truck. He retired in 2009. Don was involved with his brother in drag racing in years past. He also loved to hunt and fish. During high school, he did some boxing.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, Russell Williams, of Kansas City, Kansas; Wesley Williams, of Conway, Missouri; and John Williams, of Kingsville; two daughters, Sylvia Jackson and husband, Chris, of Kansas City, Kansas; and Cassie Williams and husband, Robert Belander, of Holden; stepdaughter, Sharon Spainhour, and husband, Scott, of Kingsville; sister, Donna Winfrey, of Warsaw, Missouri; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and James; stepdaughter, Darlene Smith; and daughter-in-law, Brandi Williams.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to assist with grandson Matthew’s leukemia treatments.
