Michael Hampton Morris, 68, of Holden, Mo., has died; funeral is Aug. 15

(HOLDEN, Mo.)–Michael Hampton Morris, 68, of Holden, Mo., died Thursday, Aug.9, at his home.
Michael was born January 29, 1944 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Paul L. and Billy Ann (Tribby) Morris.  He graduated from high school in Abiline, Kan. and attended two years of junior college at Sterling Junior College in Sterling, Kan. He lived more than 30 years in Pleasant Hill, Mo., before moving to Holden in 2005.
He was a member of Forward Community Church in Holden as well as the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), and the Appaloosa Horse Club.  He was a certified horse show judge and worked nationwide.
Survivors include his two sons, Ron Morris, Pleasant Hill, Mo., and William Morris, Holden, Mo.; two daughters, Tracy Schmoeger, Bates City, Mo., and Dalli McSpadden, Holden, Mo.; one brother, L.B. Morris, Leawood, Kan.; two sisters, Vicki Carey, Independence, Mo., and Lee Ann Myers, Kearney, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. at Forward Community Church in Holden, Mo., and will be officiated by Dr. Jensen Peterson.
Pallbearers will be Wil Morris, Guthrie McSpadden, Russ Schmoeger, Wyatt Schmoeger, John Gardner and Phillip Messick. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Johnson, Jim Jirkowsky, Paks Schmoeger, Glenn Pierce and Casey Steinmetz.
Internment will follow in Blairstown Cemetery, Blairstown, Mo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mike Morris Memorial Fund.
