Carol Athalinda (Howard) Tivis, 69, of Leeton, Missouri, died Sunday, Dec. 27, at Kansas City Hospice House.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Pastor Margie Briggs officiating. Pallbearers will be Paige Wiskur, Caitlyn Wiskur, Grant Wiskur, Tyler Flaspohler, Danielle Wiskur and Kolton Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol’s grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-granddaughter. Interment will follow at Greer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Carol was born Dec. 14, 1946, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to Denver and Anna Jo (White) Howard.
Carol and Wallace Tivis were united in marriage on April 13, 1985, in Clinton, Missouri.
Carol accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 19 at the Church of Brethren in Leeton in May of 1966. Carol was a member of and attended First Baptist Church in Warrensburg.
Carol is survived by her husband, Wallace Tivis, of Leeton; a daughter, Pearl Wiskur, and husband, Christian Hayslip, of Raymore, Missouri; three sons, Shelby Wiskur and wife, Lisa, of Webb City; Colby Wiskur and wife, Crystal, and Luke Wiskur and wife, Devin, of Leeton; three brothers, David Howard; Thurl Howard and wife, Sandy, of Leeton; and Marti Howard and wife, Sandra, of Windsor; three sisters, Ruth Roberts of Clinton; Margaret Frye and husband, Joe, of Leeton; and Lydia Franklin and husband, Bruce, of Odessa.
Carol was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Jayden Goodson; her parents; her grandparents, Lem and Minnie (Young) Howard and George and Goldie (Maxwell) White; and several aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Carol A. Tivis Memorial Fund with checks made payable to Pearl Wiskur and may be left in care of the funeral home.
