KC investigators say house fire is suspicious

(KANSAS CITY, Mo., AP) — Investigators say a fire at a south Kansas City home is being investigated as suspicious.
The city’s Bomb and Arson squad has been asked to investigate the early Monday fire, which did not cause any injuries. The home’s owner, his wife and two children were not home when the fire was reported about 3:30 a.m.
Homeowner James Givens says he was at the gym when the fire started, and his family was at a relative’s home.
KMBC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/19IUbgT ) the fire is being labeled as suspicious because one of the home’s garage doors was open when firefighters arrived. Firefighters didn’t open the door, and Givens said didn’t open it either.
