The University of Central Missouri (UCM) closed its Lee’s Summit campus on Saturday, Jan. 24, due to a forecasted winter storm expected to bring snow, icy conditions and hazardous travel across the region. University officials stated that only weather-essential personnel should report to work. The Warrensburg campus remains open and is continuing normal operations.
According to the university, crews are working to clear parking lots and walkways, but many county roads and local streets remain slick because of snow and ice. Online classes are not affected by the closure. Students enrolled in in-person classes at the Lee’s Summit campus are encouraged to check Brightspace for updates from their instructors regarding alternative requirements. Shuttle service has been canceled.
The university continues to monitor weather conditions through the National Weather Service. At this time, it remains unclear whether classes will be in session on Monday. Additional updates will be communicated through UCMAlerts, the university website, official social media channels and university email.
