Mo. bill focuses on sex offender home-buyers
January 21, 2013
Sponsoring House member Charlie Davis says he’s just trying to spark discussion about protecting children.
The legislation would require sex offenders who want to buy property to report their status to their real estate agents. The buyer’s agent then would need to disclose the information before the sale to the seller’s real estate agent. Also, the buyer’s real estate agent would need to disclose a client’s sex offender status to neighbors living within a half-mile after the sale closes.
The Missouri Association of Realtors says it has concerns about the proposal.
