Mules Win Season Finale Against Lincoln

  Feb. 27 was “Senior Day” for the University of Central Missouri. The Mules finished at 7-15 versus their opponent the Lincoln University Blue Tigers 12-10. In honor of the graduating seniors, all five of them were put into the starting lineup. Guards Koray Gilbert, Dillon Blain and Drew Apsher were paired with forwards Dawson Jones and graduate student, Ante Sustic. The Mules came away with a win 81-62.

  At the start of the game, it was slow for both teams as they had difficulty scoring points. Around the seven minute mark, Blain put a three-pointer through the net to give the Mules the lead for the rest of the game. With four minutes left of the first half, the Mules had a 8-0 run, which was from Blain’s three pointer. 

  The Mules shot 45 percent from the floor, 36.7 percent from three, 36 rebounds and tallied 17 assists. Blain led the team with 18 points and five rebounds. Gilbert led the team in turnovers of four.  However, Gilbert finished the game with 12 points and had the game high of nine rebounds.

  The Lincoln Blue Tigers were led by their junior guard/forward Sai Witt, scoring 18 points and rebounding the ball six times. He had help from teammate junior guard, Yaniel Vidal, picking up 16 points and grabbing five rebounds. Overall, the Blue Tigers were 40 percent from the floor, 26.3 percent from the? three point range and had 33 rebounds for the game.

  The Mules finished their season 7-15 and did not advance to the playoffs. The Mules ended the season with a game high of 14 steals.
