The University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit will participate in a statewide tornado drill at 10 a.m. March 5. The drill will last about 15 minutes, according to a press release.
The UCM Department of Public Safety/environmental health and safety encourages faculty and staff to share information about the drill with students and colleagues.
During the drill, participants will go to the lowest floor of an indoor shelter, preferably a room or hallway and away from glass.
Designated shelter areas at UCM are identified on emergency building plans, posted near hallways and stairs and participants must remain in the shelter until the drill is over.
The Lee’s Summit campus will be notified by the outdoor warning services and through the Nixel Alerting Service.
The drill will conclude with an “all clear” message via TextCaster. To sign up for TextCaster, visit ucmo.edu/ps/.
