More than 10,000 visit new casino in first 2 days

(CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., AP) — A new casino in southeast Missouri appears to be a good bet early in its operation.
The Missouri Gaming Commission said Tuesday that 10,700 people visited the casino in the first two days after it opened Oct. 30. The commission says the Isle Cape Girardeau had gross gaming revenue of $593,936 on Oct. 30-31.
The Southeast Missourian reports (http://bit.ly/ZsI4xE ) casino patrons wagered $3.7 million in the first two days.
The monthly commission report covered only two days. But a spokeswoman for Isle of Capri, which owns the casino, says more than 40,000 people visited the casino in the first 10 days of operation.
Mayor Harry Rediger says city officials are thrilled with the opening figures. The city will receive monthly payments from casino admission fees.
