Man pleads guilty to setting fire at ex-girlfriend's home

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo., AP) — A St. Joseph man was sentenced to four years in prison after he admitted in court that he set fire to an ex-girlfriend’s home.
Kharyee Darton pleaded guilty Monday to arson after the state agreed to dismiss a second charge of arson, and charges of witness tampering and domestic assault.
Darton admitted he set the fire on April 17 after the woman living there ended their relationship.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports (http://bit.ly/2aGF9NI ) Buchanan County prosecutors say Darton had tried to contact the woman to persuade her not to testify against him.
He was being held in the Buchanan County Jail without bond because he’s was determined to be a danger to the community.
