(GREENWOOD, Mo., AP) — A Greenwood couple has been charged in a dog attack that left a toddler injured.
According to prosecutors, 42-year-old Brett William Cottrell and 39-year-old Shannon M. Cottrell were charged Friday with “subsequent dog bites, liability of owner” for their dog’s attack on Isaiah Francis on July 25.
The child was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries including skull fractures and more than 60 puncture wounds.
According to Greenwood police, the dog had disappeared before officers arrived and were told the attack occurred outside. Officers later learned the dog belonged to the residents of the home where the attack occurred.
The dog was eventually found and euthanized.
