UMSL program offers tuition aid for military members

(ST. LOUIS, AP) — A new scholarship at the University of Missouri-St. Louis aims to make it easier for members of the military to afford college.

Starting this fall, UMSL’s Servicemembers Tuition Assistance Scholarship program awards up to $1,000 per academic year to eligible students. It is open to those currently serving in the military.
Retired Army Lt. Col. Jim Craig, chairman of the Department of Military and Veterans Studies, says the program speaks to UMSL’s commitment to military members.
Last fall, 429 veterans were enrolled at the university, an increase of 17 percent over the fall of 2013.
