EF-2 tornado confirmed in St. Charles County

(ST. PETERS, Mo., AP) — The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in St. Charles County last weekend.

A strong stormed rolled through the St. Louis region Sunday night. The weather service says an EF-2 tornado with wind up to 120 mph touched down about two miles north of Mid Rivers Mall.
Damage was limited, mostly because the tornado struck a sparsely populated area of the county. One home had roof damage but no one was there at the time.
The storm also brought nearly 2 inches of rain, worsening flooding in the region. Several rivers in Missouri are well above their banks, closing several roads and flooding thousands of acres of farmland.
