Mammoth plant in Springfield closing, 200 jobs lost

(SPRINGFIELD, Mo., AP) — A manufacturing plant in Springfield will close by the end of the year, costing about 200 employees their jobs.

Officials with Minnesota-based Mammoth told the Springfield News-Leader (http://sgfnow.co/1JS6lG4) Wednesday that some products being manufactured in Springfield are being discontinued and others are moving to company plants in Oregon and Canada. The company manufactures heating, ventilation and cooling units.
A company vice president, Erin Riebe, said the layoffs will begin in July and conclude by the end of December.
Riebe says the decision to close was driven by market factors and a desire to move operations to more efficient plants.
